Martin is a dedicated genealogist-detective and translator with over three decades of experience helping American-Slovaks trace their roots in Slovakia. Fluent in both English and Slovak, he translates official church and government records as part of his in-depth research and facilitates meaningful conversations between family members. In addition to his genealogical work, he has taught English and continues to serve as a business management consultant for the World Bank .
Over the years, Martin has worked alongside some of the leading U.S. genealogists specializing in Slovak ancestry. He works closely with Helene Cincebeaux, the leading collector of Slovak folk dress and editor of Slovakia magazine, as well as the creator of the Slovak Pride Facebook page, which has close to 11,000 subscribers worldwide. He also worked with well-known genealogist Megan Smolenyak as translator and facilitator during her pioneering geographic DNA study focused on the Slovak village of Osturňa in 2004.
